KQED Educator Class: Digital Self-Portraits
Friday, June 10, 2011 at 5:00 PM - Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 4:00 PM (PDT)
Join KQED Education for a summer class on video production for educators!
Work with KQED's arts and media education staff to develop and produce a short autobiographical film. During the course we will practice analyzing design elements in film, learn the production process, receive training in cinematography and video editing, and create a digital self-portrait to be used as a model for classroom projects.
As a group, we explore self expression through narrative and experimental non-fiction filmmaking, and critically analyze contemporary art projects and films by artists including Kerry Laitala, Sadie Benning, and Mark Bradford. We will look at strategies for integrating both generated and found media resources into your projects, so get out those old photo albums! Attendees will also discover new ideas for infusing digital media projects into existing curricula, and complete a short, filmic "self-portrait" by the end of the workshop series.
All sessions are required. It is preferred that you use your own laptop with iMovie (Macs) or Movie Maker (Windows) installed for the workshops, but there are a limited number of KQED laptops that may be borrowed. This workshop is open to formal and informal educators working in Middle and High School classrooms.
THE CLASS WILL MEET SIX TIMES. ALL SESSIONS ARE REQUIRED.
